What is fear?
Fear is simply an emotionally charged response to perceived danger. Take careful note now, I wrote 'perceived danger'.
What do I mean by that?
Let's look at Bungee Jumping. It's pretty easy to understand how people could develop a fear of flinging themselves off a structurally sound bridge attached only with a glorified rubber band tied on by some dude they just met. Especially after signing a form that says:
'Sure, it's okay if you kill me, all is forgiven.'
Do you think the 'dude' is in constant fear that he may kill every single person one after another? Doubtful. He uses a proven system that makes all the dangly volunteers bounce happily back up to the bridge and then go away.
What are the volunteer 'gravity taunters' afraid of then?
• The cord might break!
• What if the cord is too long!
• What if I slip out and fall in the river....I can't swim....and there might be rocks....and frickin' flying monkeys from Venus might steal my clothes when I get out to dry off!
• And so on and so on...
Feel free to add your own creative ideas, since that's really what fear boils down to: how many horrifying things you can imagine might happen to you.
Notice what what tense fear exists in. Is it in the past, present, or future?
If you said 'future', you're right! Now, you may have had an experience in your past with bungee jumping that scared you pantless and you might be saying:
"But Garfield, "
(Don't you hate 'buts'? What a waste of time!)
"But Garfield, that fear is in the past". No, that 'experience' is in the past and you're allowing it to create a possible outcome for the future....which you are afraid of.
Does the Future exist?
Nope. It's a wide open canvas, folks.
Follow me now.....if fear only exists in the future, and the future doesn't exist....does fear exist?
NO!!
We terrify ourselves daily with something that doesn't even EXIST!
I know what you're saying,
"Gee Wiz, Mr. Wizard, thanks a pant-load for the info, so why does non-existent fear grip me so tightly every time I'm about to call my prospects?"
Again, we have this uncanny ability to let our imagination take hold and pump up our emotions. And it's no secret that when emotions are high, intelligence is so very low. It would be good practice to not make decisions in this state.
Please don't allow anxiety caused by fear of unknown (and unlikely!) circumstances to affect your ability to take action.
It's simple: If you're getting worked up thinking about what 'could' go wrong, stop thinking! That's right, just get over yourself and stop thinking.
Instead of thinking...ACT! That's it, my friends, pick up the phone and dial. Stay present and see how you can help your new prospect. Come from a position of service and there is nothing to be afraid of. Once you've taken action you will have in your hot little hands a result. From this result you will receive feedback on how to take your next action. Then repeat. Forever.
There is nothing that can be done about the emotion behind fear. You cannot eliminate or destroy fear. What you can do is tame it, control it, use it. It's an instinct meant to warn us of immediate danger, not to warn us of '63 things that might go wrong to embarrass us' ;P
The ability to tame the cobra of fear is a habit. We must practice daily, and with persistence.
How to practice:
Do something, anything, every single day that makes you uncomfortable. Write down the uncomfortable action your going to take and then at the end of the day go back and write how you felt and feel after taking that action.
Are you afraid of heights? Go to the top of the highest building you can find and gaze out at the world far, far below.
Afraid of talking to the opposite/same sex? The next time you go out, say 'hello' to everyone you make eye contact with and smile. Then when you run into someone you want to know more intimately you'll have had plenty of warm-up time and you can tame your fear of the unknown and say 'hi'.
Dress up as a Power Ranger and walk to the shop for some gum. WHATEVER makes you uncomfortable. I say this all the time:
"If you are always willing to do what's hard, then life will be easy."
"If you are only willing to do what's easy...then life will always be hard."
Force yourself to do things that make you uncomfortable, because if you can't even bring yourself to do little 'annoying' tasks that might affect your fragile little mood, then I apologize, business will eat you alive and spit your poor, battered body back into the rat-race to feed the vermin.
The saddest part is that nobody will even notice, because you never stood out, because you were afraid of what 'might' happen if you stretched and tried something new.
I will support you. Email me each day if you'd like and give me update reports about fears you've overcome by taking uncomfortable action. Or if you'd like to know even more about how to deal with fear in life and business I'm always eager to help.

Is Affiliate Marketing Truly Replacing MLM?
I've been following the experiential wisdom of Jim Yaghi for only a short time, perhaps 3-4 months, and I will follow his examples for some time to come. His experience in Network Marketing and lead generation make him a fundamental choice for any serious networker.
From his fiercely effective Project PPC Domination, to the daily, nay hourly commitment he seems to make to help others reach their highest and best in this tough, competitive industry.
Anyone who happens to be in an MLM or other home-based business should immediately check out his blog.
I found this article on his blog yesterday which makes clear a once murky subject.
Do People Jump From MLM to Internet Marketing?
Cheers, Jim Yaghi, YOU DA MAN!
